(More customer reviews)My toddler is a huge Dora fan, and she will like this book because it is a Dora product, but beyond that, it really isn't that great. The story line is unimaginative (once Dora was a baby and wore diapers, now she is a big girl and uses the potty) and it does not keep my daughter's attention all the way through. Too wordy! Also, the button to make the flushing sound is too difficult for her to push on her own.

(More customer reviews)I am not disappointed in the book per se, but it surprised me to find that the majority of the suggestions were things that we were already doing. I think that this book would be great for first time moms, teenage moms or dads who don't carry a playlist of nursery rhymes in their iPod. The book does encourage you to use positive and encouraging language with the children which is something that many people benefit from a reminder once in a while (myself included). Borrow it if you can....buy a more advanced book if you think you've already got the basics down.

(More customer reviews)I spend every Saturday with my 3 nephews. One is 6, the others are two 3-year old twins. This book has saved my life! So many times the kids have been over and I haven't had any idea of how to keep them occupied! Since about January of this year, I've been using "200 Instant Crafts" as an instant sources of great craft ideas. The best part is how inexpensive the crafts are to make. I really do have most of the stuff around the house. The guidelines that tell me for what age the craft is appropriate have been an immense help to me. I had no idea what a 3 year old could and couldn't do as opposed to the 6 year old. Using these guidelines keeps me from asking the kids to do something they aren't ready to do. I'll be using this book all Summer! Thanks.

I've read other books on the subject but haven't been very impressed. These ideas are practical, inexpensive, and clever. It includes recipes for things like playdough, and instructions for making your own affordable alternatives. Karen Miller had spent over twenty years in the business when this was written and it really shows in this wonderful, thoughtful book.

(More customer reviews)I bought this book, and "The Way I Feel" in response to my almost 2 year old going through a hitting phase. I could not be more pleased with how this book (and the other) addresses the issue and proposes solutions for dealing with anger and frustration. My son LOVES acting out the things that hands can be used for. He sits through the whole book and often wants to read it again. He quotes catchy phrases that he remembers from the book. It is so interactive! I really think that it has made a difference in my son's behavior over the period of 3 weeks.

There are chapters for leisurely morning activities, meal and naptime ideas, and even sections on what to do in the car or on the plane. Each chapter's activities are also grouped by age, so it's easy to find something that will work for you and your child. Add to that the "prep time" and "messiness quotient" listings and you've got a recipe for success! Best of all, many of the activities only require a little energy and imagination or items usually found around the house. There's truly something here for everyone. This book inspired me to set up a reading nook (it's SO much more fun to read in a tent while lounging on pillows!) create a special hideaway and an activity box and put together a craft cupboard, among many other things, big and small. (More customer reviews)Hi! I love this book, every activity has a picture, so you know how to do it properly. I love that it does not require to buy tons of toys! One piece of advice though, there are two other Gymboree Play & Music, one for babies, and one for toddlers... buy this book instead of those two, its cheaper, and they have exactly the same!!!
My baby is 3 months old, and ejoys this activities so much!!!! We have a daily schedule to develop different areas!!!! Its a great companion for play time, and I really, really, really recommend it!!!

(More customer reviews)I am a preschool teacher who has taught kindergarten and 4 yr olds. Having been asked to take a new job with 2 and 3 yr olds was a lot more difficult than I thought! With all the choking hazzards and lack of fine motor skills, it's hard to plan lessons. This book gives some excellent activity ideas. I loved it. My only negative thought is that the book doesn't really follow "themes", which almost all schools use these days. Still it's a great buy!
