I have 4 children, 3 of whom are old enough to participate in arts and crafts and I found a number of activities in this book that all of them could do! This is a wonderful book with colorul illustrations to show what the finished project will look like. I highly recommend buying it!

Mister Rogers' Playtime Review

(More customer reviews)This is a simple compilation of toddler or children's activities, presented by Fred Rogers, of television's Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood. Most of the activities can be done using things you really can find around your house; not expensive craft supplies that you have to go out and buy. I wasn't so much impressed with the originality of the ideas; however, the organization and simplicity with which the ideas are presented is superb. There are sections on sharing/caring, pretend play, helping, things that go, feelings, creative fun, nature and science. Each activity page includes a list of things you'll need, steps for setting up and participating in the activity and what your child is working on developmentally by doing the activity; extra tips are included on many pages, as well. A helpful list of household things to save (instead of throwing out) for use in play activities is also included in the back of the book. This is a great book, and although we've only tried a few of the many activities so far, my kids and I really like this book.

It enlightens parents to the concept that our children can and should be joyful and that we will become more joyful ourselves in the process. It examines many personalities and methods to appropriately love, nurture and support each. Included, is a very full, but simple and effective list of activities that any loving parent can and will engage in with their child/children. (More customer reviews)This book was a gift to me from my mom and I loved it. It gave me ideas for many activities to do while sick. The reciepes are tasty. I became an aupair and this book was a neccesity. Even if the kids were not sick, we were able to to some nice calm fun indoors on not so nice days outside. (like clay making and shadow puppet shows) Now, I am useing this book for my child and husband. No matter how old you are you can use this book to make anyones day a little brighter.

Also I found the singing and games to be useful for any mother who is trying to find her preschool or early elementary child something to do while they are at home.
Also the singing and games are great family activities.

Super Granny: Great Stuff to Do with Your Grandkids Review

(More customer reviews)Sally Olds has given us a real gift here: Interesting things to do with different ages of children-some activities you may have done, some you never dreamed of, and some that will make you marvel at the creativity of some folks. What I liked especially are the breadth of things to do, the clear descriptions, and the $ signs. By the way, anyone, not just grannies, looking for ideas of things to do with kids will love this book. A bonus is the author's ability to relate 'great stuff to do' to particular stages in child development.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, even if I do only a few new things with my two grandchildren. But when I invite now ten year old Gabrielle to join me in a political rally some day, I will know I have to thank Sally Olds for that.

As the founder and creator of Familes-First, a web site for all families, I found this book especially important and worthwhile. Not only are the crafts, recipes, and play ideas fun they are also educational ( the kids don't have to know this part ; )). (More customer reviews)Received this "How to Fit a Car Seat on a Camel" as a gift and practically wet myself reading the stories. Some were seriously hilarious, some were ew-w-w, some were really quite touching.
This is the perfect book to take along on a trip, when you want only short easy things to read. And, maybe, reading about someone else's misadventures will make whatever problems you're facing seem minor in comparison.
Anyway, I always think that books make great gifts and this one would be perfect for mothers of small children. After receiving and reading it, I bought another copy for a friend. She immediately bought another copy for another friend.
It's that kind of book.
