Here is an inexpensive manual with clear definitions, excellent photographs and diagrams as well as sections on what not to do, what can go wrong and how to fix it. The exercises build from basic to more advanced. I found her half-halt method to be simple and subtle but worked to stabilize even my NASCAR-minded mare. She suggests multiple methods to determine the correct timing to apply the aides. This book was recommended by a friend and I believe it is the most user-friendly, helpful book in my library. I'll pass the recommendation along to you wholeheartedly.

I have 2 different sizes - mini for paperbacks, midi for hardcovers. On one, the tabs were floppy, but tightening the screws solved the problem.

(More customer reviews)All schools should adopt the principles and rules so clearly discussed in this book. The simplicity of the "Healthy Play" program is its beauty and the reason for its success. Mr. Steffens and Mr. Gorin present valid arguments why schools should change from aggressive and competitive game-playing to activities that promote sharing, caring and compromise. Almost every game found in this book that I have tried out on my students has been met with enthusiasm. Their faces and giggles and body language have told me that the game provided a balance of challenge and enjoyment. The index is organized so that appropriate games can easily be found no matter the goal desired. As a teacher who deals with some very aggressive and angry children, I would like to personally thank these two gentlemen for a very useful plan that has allowed my students and I to experience positive community building.

(More customer reviews)I'm only in the middle of this book, but so far it's great! It's got some great ideas for kids 6-10. I have a 6 year old, so some of these activities are too old. But I know I have them to look forward to! I have 4 year old too, but I know that he can do many of the things with my 6 year old! The subtitle actually says "...6 to 10-Year-Old..." and not 7-9.
