While the premise for this book (a multinational exploration of the Moon) may actually happen (keep an eye on the Constellation project), those of us who grew up on Mercury and Apollo will enjoy both the technical details (told by someone who obviously worked on the inside of the space program) and the human interaction (sex, love, and intrigue) in "The Third Seat". Highly recommended. (Okay, okay, I'm biased; my father wrote it, but it's still a hell of a good book.)

What if the Russians had agreed to Jack Kennedy's offer of a cooperative program to send astronauts to moon? The answer is not what you would expect. Be prepared for an amusing, fast moving and genuine trip back through the ‘60s culture and the strangeness of Cold War politics - domestic and international. Backed with authentic technology, very lightly administered, the story is carried by a fascinating group of characters ranging from the Vice President to an alcoholic press agent who blunder into an exciting and totally unexpected endgame. Their adventures and romantic entanglements, spanning half the globe, will leave you alternately chuckling and sitting on the front of your chair.
