(More customer reviews)Always doing his best, Navy Lt Milan Bakar embarks on an adventure resulting in an exuberant story of love, admidst the fog of war, so good I read it two times. Not least among the novels pleasures are its lyrics. Filipasha, in a fresh voice, uniquely portrays a WWII love story from a Navy officers perspective that is both insightful and inspired. A romantic tale in perfect time for delightful summer reading. A spellbinding historical story full of poetry and great humor, compellingly and beautifully written.

Kiss Me Amarillo is a romantic, musical adventure set in WWII of the naval reserve on ships careering across two oceans from Norfolk to Casablanca, to the jungles beyond the Coral Sea, before reaching the Tadich Grill in San Francisco.Milan Bakar, from the Kingdom of the Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes, packs his fiddle and leaves Des Plaines and Northwestern's Naval ROTC to join fellow ensigns at the U.S. Navy's Destroyer Training Center in Norfolk. There he's bewitched by Polly Fielding, a lovely WAVE from Texas whom he courts with fiddle and poesy. Whence, sad to say, he's on his way with the Tin Can Sailors leaving that Jumbly Girl so fair in Norfolk Town and won't be back for many a day from the sea battle in the South West Pacific.--This text refers to the Kindle Edition edition.
