(More customer reviews)This is a decent book, but the idea that you get a good idea of how to convert your own van to a camper? Not even close. This is basically a book made by going to a place that builds RV's out of vans and following some people around with a camera. There is some good info to be sure, but if you are looking for ideas of how to come up with your own layout, why types of conversions the average person might be able to pull off without professional help etc.. forget it. There is little if any information of that type. You can get some ideas about safety issues in the case of venting carbon dioxide/monoxide etc.. and running propane lines there is a lot of warnings about NOT doing that yourself..
I gave it two stars because it's two stars worth of information, but it does get that information off to you. The pictures are easy to see, very illustrative. If you are looking for a book that you can follow some pro's around as they convert a van and after reading it have absolutely no idea where to start... this book is for you.
Also if this "how to convert your van or bus to camper" book has any information on where to get materials to do said conversion, I never saw it. It's a conversion done by leisuredrive in the UK so if you are in the United States and thinking of contacting them, they are an ocean away folks so don't bother.

Especially those who are new to Japan. Unfortunately, Japanese business world is still male-oriented, and most of Japanese businessmen don't know how to deal with women in business. One of the Japanese businesswomen's complaints is, "Japanese men treat business women only in three manners. Treat them as their wives, daughters, or hostesses at the night bars. They just don't know how to treat them as a collogue or business partner乧" This book consists of actual experiences of many foreign women and how they dealt with. Those experiences are no exaggeration from my eyes. It will be a good preparation to know what you may confront in Japan.

(More customer reviews)Niall Williams has a gift. He can describe eternity from the Irish point of view. Four Letters of Love is an eminently Irish story. It assumes a Catholic or Christian perspective of man as destined for eternity and guided by Providence even though it succumbs to fatalism. Mr. Williams aptly takes one through the journey of two similar souls that begin very much apart but converge towards each other in subtle, Providential ways. What distinguishes this book from many a story of two souls is the author's rare ability to describe life through "kairos" -- that Greek word for time signifying the convergece of time and place that resembles eternity -- rather than by "chronos" (or chronological events). And that, by itself, makes Four Letters of Love a truly poetic and human story. A story of love, true Irish love. By the end on the book one feels as Irish as the characters themselves, tossed by the tides of the sea much like the Irish coasts that play such an important role in the book. Mr. Williams' grammar is a joy to read and this book should be a must in the collection of ambitious writers and those seeking to understand the Irish a bit more. I recommend it for its rare purity and for its magnificent use of the English language.

(More customer reviews)This is the second book with alternatives to worksheets and again, it contains great ideas to have kids learn through easy and engaging hands-on activities. All the ideas provided are organized in alphabetical order, and for each activity you will find suggestions on how to apply it through different areas across the curriculum. Some of the ideas included are how to make and use: board games, round dioramas (an alternative to the wonderful triaramas and quadriramas introduced in the first book), flip-flop books, menus, passports, puppets, time lines, spinners, mobiles and many more. Some ideas require basic materials like construction paper, envelopes, boxes, paper plates, and other household items. If the activity requires a specific template, the book contains a section of patterns that can be photocopied (like for example the pattern to make eyeglasses, flip-flop books, spinners, pinwheels and much more). Most of the activities require no further preparation and most can be done with the every day resources that most teachers keep in their classrooms.
If you have tried the first book, you can't miss this one which is just as good. If you haven't tried any, you won't want to miss them! Both books will help you give a twist to your lessons and you will definitely use fewer worksheets and obtain better results!

The car games are fun and most of the activities just use your brain and some random items that are probably laying around your countertops (if your house looks like mine). I found Mama's Tricks at our school book fair and I love the hip prose and the cute illustrations.
